The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) takes seriously the privacy of its website visitors, program participants, donors, and others who may share personal data.

These individuals have certain rights regarding the information we collect, including:

This Privacy Policy is posted on CIPE’s homepage, the Ethics 1st® Initiative homepage, all internal website pages, and at every point where personal data may be requested or collected. Any reference to “CIPE” or “CIPE websites” in this Privacy Policy includes the Ethics 1st® Initiative website at www.ethics1st.cipe.org that is owned and operated by CIPE.

Personal data we collect and how we use it

The following notification applies to all data shared by or collected from consumers and users of CIPE websites, as well as information provided to CIPE as the result of participation in its programs and initiatives, financial support to CIPE projects, client or vendor relationships, and application for employment. Personal data is considered information that can be used to identify a living individual, either due to submitted details or in combination with other data already possessed or collected by an entity. CIPE is committed to ensuring that personal data processed or controlled by CIPE is treated securely and in a manner that complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

CIPE only collects personal information that is provided voluntarily or is necessary for specific business purposes. We store this data on secure servers and take appropriate technical precautions to ensure the data is not improperly misused or disclosed. We will not retain your personal information for longer than necessary for the purposes set out in this policy.

Data CIPE collects and how it is used

When website users request or attempt to download resources, we may ask for an email address and, optionally, name, title, and organization or affiliation. This helps ensure the resources can be shared properly. We utilize the information to provide summarized metrics to our grantors and stakeholders. These metrics are anonymous and not considered personal data.

When signing up for CIPE mailing lists, we collect an individual’s email address and, optionally, name, title, and affiliation. We use this information to send emails and updates.

When registering for CIPE events, we collect certain information such as email, name, organization, and phone number. We use this information to invite individuals to events, to participate in programs, and to provide information related to upcoming events and programs.

When registering to participate in the Ethics 1st® Initiative, we collect certain information such as email, name, organization, and phone number. We use this information to communicate with companies, assessors, and trainers about the Ethics 1st® program registration requirements and Ethics 1st® events and programs.

When attending CIPE events, we may collect photo and video (images and footage) which may contain personal information, including name and affiliation. We use these to showcase CIPE’s work on our website and to donors, grantors, and stakeholders.

When applying to a position at CIPE, we collect your email address and information you provide us in the content of your email, cover letter, resume or CV, and other material as applicable.

When donating to CIPE or paying CIPE (such as when buying resources or tickets to an event), we collect data associated with the payment method used. We use this data to process payment and deliver goods purchased.

When browsing CIPE websites, we use cookies to improve the experience of using the websites and to ensure the security of the sites. More information is available in the section on Cookies below.

Sharing personal data

CIPE considers all personal data confidential and only shares it within CIPE or with partners as necessary for the delivery of services or activities to the person who provided the information. CIPE does not voluntarily share personal data provided with any third-party institution without the specific consent of the data subject unless obligated to do so by U.S. or other applicable laws or regulations.

CIPE may share anonymized collective data with our grantors and partners to fulfill the requirements of our grants.

CIPE does not use, share, or sell any personal data for commercial purposes.

Access to an individual’s data

All persons who provide personal data to CIPE have the right to request and receive a copy of all data we hold on that individual and to request that any inaccurate or out-of-date information be corrected. Individuals who have provided personal data to CIPE have the right to erase any data that is no longer required by CIPE.

Cookies and embedded content

CIPE uses cookies when necessary to ensure our websites are efficient, secure, and private. These include:

CIPE websites do not accept public logins or comments.

This Privacy Policy was published on 20th of September, 2021 and last updated on 13th December, 2024. We will inform you of any changes to this Privacy Policy by publication of a notice on the CIPE websites.
